The New Renault Mégane IV. Renault is common pick-up with Mercedes and Nissan. Within the Renault range, the compact Mégane family is a must for twenty years now. But if it is a must on the segment of compact family, it is the Volkswagen Golf, by far the favorite of Europeans. Germany's owes its image of reinforced concrete and the endless choice of versions it offers, ranging from 100% electric powertrain ultrasportif to break, through the diesel sedan Monsieur Tout-le-Monde and the hybrid Rechargeable (read our test Volkswagen Golf GTE).
Many people are jealous of the success of this reference. Starting with Peugeot, which gave its last lines 308 a Germanic character. Apparently successfully, since Sochaux won the title of Car of the Year, a year after . The Volkswagen Golf! When renewing this Mégane, Renault thus follows the movement. Forget the ovoid volumes of the first generation, the second architected forms of Latin and proportions of the third and last one. At a time when the diamond is approaching more and more Daimler for technical synergy that seems to last, we find an uncanny resemblance between the new Renault Mégane, fourth generation, and Mercedes-Benz A-Class, which has chic compact allowed the Star to take up successfully in a market where it was previously lacking.
Aesthetically indeed, drawing the windows of the new Renault Mégane and its chrome beltline and broad shoulders, inevitably remind the Stuttgart cousin. The front evokes in turn the face of the great Talisman sedan, unveiled a few weeks ago and whose world premiere will also take place at the IAA. We find the famous grille signed by the Dutch designer Laurens van den Acker and now generalized to the whole range. Like Talisman, the Megane adds a look of catfish, with a garland of diodes that highlights the outer sides of the optics.
The same similarity between Mégane and Talisman is found at the back, where the lights extend in width at the point of almost come to join the logo at the center of the tailgate. The GT model (blue in our slideshow) is distinguished by a little more aggressive hardware.
After Space and the Talisman, the Mégane adopts the vertical touch pad
Inside, there are also the spirit of the latest models in the range. The Mégane thus have the same large central touch screen vertical format that Talisman and space, at least on the most exclusive finishes. The Megane also gets its Talisman combined digital instrumentation, as well as the side vents. For the rest, the design of the dashboard looks more traditional, almost as agreed in a Volkswagen Golf. Again, references remain unchanged.

Renault has not released the technical details of this new Mégane, but few surprises are expected. This compact will share its platform called CMF-CD with Renault Kadjar, Space and Talisman. This gives access to the Mégane some options that was previously forbidden it, like the chassis with four-wheel steering Control 4, available at least on the GT finish. We also note the appearance of the head-up display, cruise control or the Multi Sense system, which allows you to set the throttle response, flexibility of the suspension or the vividness of four-wheel steering . Again, this will be options available or not according to equipment levels. However this leaves hope for Mégane largely on page compete in terms of driving aids.
Under the hood, should not surprisingly found the well-known 4-cylinder 1.5 dCi Diesel in entry (95 hp and 110 hp), which will be supported by the 1.6 dCi 130 hp heart range. The GT version will have perhaps right to biturbo version of this last block, strong 160 hp. This same version WG should propose the 1.6 petrol TCe 200 hp, already seen in the Espace and Clio RS. However, this will probably be the 1.2 TCe (115 hp or 130 hp), which will carry out the bulk of sales with this fuel. Renault has so far not announced prices of its new Mégane, which should start around € 21,000.
